Our last meeting for the year will be May 7th and we will hold the Board Election. If you  are interested in being a part of the board next year, or just want to get your vote in, please plan to join us. Our current President, Vice President, and Treasurer have served on the board for 2-3 years, so it would be wonderful to get some new volunteers to fill these positions!

The much-anticipated Spring Carnival is on April 22 from 5-7pm. Look for information to come soon! Teachers have reached out asking for volunteers to run booths and help with grade level raffle baskets, so please help if you can! Look for signups soon for other items to donate in preparation for the Spring Carnival!

Dear Grizzly Families,
Happy April Gate City Families. End of year testing starts April 30th. Classes will continue moving forward with new instruction and sprinkle in some review of earlier concepts. Grizzlies and staff, keep up the hard work! You are doing great.

Apr. 30th -May 3rd : All grades testing
May 7th -17th : 3rd -5th grade testing
May 21st -24th : Make-up testing blocks all grades

I will take a new attendance count on Apr. 18 th to see who has 97% attendance or better since March 1 st . Please get doctor notes to us when possible. We will be looking at a new attendance recognition system for next year. This was our first attempt and we feel there needs to be a change. If you have any good ideas let us know.

Families, your continued support of your child’s academics and positive behavior at school is so appreciated. Please remind your learner(s) of your expectations for them at school and we will stay consistent with ours. We work on being safe, kind, and being the best learner they can be.

The PTO would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who donated during  the Read-a-thon. The assembly will be held next Wednesday. We can’t wait to hand out prizes, and draw the winner of the bike from Barrie's!

March 14th is Pi Day, and what better way to celebrate than having a pizza pie from Papa Murphy's!  Help us out and mention Gate City Elementary when you order!

In April we will host the Spring Carnival! Each teacher will be asking for parents to volunteer to help run booths, and each grade level with parent help will put together raffle baskets. We are raising funds for an electronic reader-board for the school.

March's PTO meeting is an evening meet-up on Monday, March 11th at 7 pm in the school library! Parents and teachers are all encouraged to attend. We will provide
limited childcare with the help of some of our teens. We hope to see you there!

Dear Grizzly Families,
Idaho in the Spring, it’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get.

Reminder: We go outside in the cold and wet. Learners need to bring layers to school,  even on mild morning. It can seem like it’s going to be a nice day and then turn cold.

Safety: We need learners and siblings to stay off the snow hills between 8am-3:00 pm during school monitoring time for everyone’s safety. PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY IN our SCHOOL ZONE around the school and watch for children crossing the streets.

Proactivity: “Handle with care”- Keep in mind that big changes at home, lack of sleep or a tough morning can impact your child’s emotional state at school. For example, they may be quick to anger, have hurt feelings, or struggle going with the flow. When teachers are aware, we are better able to respond to their needs. Please reach out if you think we need a head up. We do not need to know the details, just say/write, “handle with care." With your help, we can be better prepared to work with your child.

Dear Grizzly Families,

Happy February! Our school wide data in reading and math is on a beautiful upward trend. We are above the state average in all grades. Wahoo! In the spirit of February and Valentine’s Day, we love our Grizzlies and getting to work with such amazing families like yours. Thank you for being ours!

Parents, look for messages in your e-mail to get connected with the BusRight App. This will allow you to track your learner’s bus stop progress and get notifications of any delays.

Reminders: Please remind your learner to continue to bring a jacket or coat with them to school for a bit longer. It may be sunny, but it is cold and they will be going outside at recess.

Safety: Thank you, parents, for using the drop off and pick up lane and leaving the bus lane clear for busses and learners crossing it. We ask that learners stay off any snow mounds on school grounds between 8am and 3pm. Learners can check themselves into school, but need parents or someone on their contact list to sign them out.

Proactivity: Feel free to put a second pair of clothes in your learner’s backpack so they can help themselves if there is an accident or they get wet and muddy at recess. This will allow them to get back to class quickly and save you a trip. Be sure to take note of upcoming school closure dates.

Best wishes, Mrs. Delonas
